Tre

Void
Site-specific laser installation
2021

Tre, the minimalist light/sound installation by Norwegian interdisciplinary studio Void, plays on the word’s twin Norwegian meanings: tree and three.

Tre takes the tree as an example of how the human mind often resorts to simple object categorization and overlooks the complexity of the interconnected systems and processes that nurture the natural world. Byemphasizingsuch systems–and our own interaction with them, Tre creates a collective experience celebrating the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature.

TRE was a site-specific installation on the hillside of Kontraskjæret in central Oslo and premiered during the second edition of Fjord Oslo light art festival. Consisting of one laser beam reflecting in mirrors and forming a triangle around three majestic trees and a generative soundscape, TRE combined the minimalistic expression of modern technology with organic nature.
